Journalism chronicles: Gannett down; Wikipedia video up

As rumors swirl that giant newspaper publisher Gannett may layoff thousands next week, Wikipedia prepares to add video. How are the two related? Wikipedia current-event-entry news is perhaps the most immediate relative in the journalism family to the amazing Twitter coverage of the Iranian election protests, that's how.

DIY news: Iran’s fuzzy, chopped-up, blurry media revolution

This on-the-ground fuzzy YouTube was posted from what looks like Tehran today by "mz3638," with the unsearchable date-edition title: "18062009003." So the Iranian streets are alive. Tweet of the Week: No anti-Semitism here

With more local politicos using the microblogging service Twitter to surreptitiously feed the rumor mill, rally supporters and bash opponents in 140 characters or less I thought it might be fun to highlight the week's best, worst or funniest message, known as a "tweet." And our inaugural post is a doozy too.
