GLENWOOD SPRINGS — Garfield County Commissioner Trési Houpt says she will run again in 2010 despite what she expects will be a double target on her back due to the fact that she’s the lone Democrat on the board and that she also serves on the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission (COGCC).

Gov. Bill Ritter may have triggered a party divide last week on the controversial hydraulic fracturing gas-drilling process, bucking fellow Democrat and U.S. Rep. Diana DeGette. But it’s a pure party line issue in natural gas-rich ground zero Garfield County.

Less than a week out, the agenda for a highly anticipated two-day Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission meeting in Glenwood Springs is about as clear as the waste water in a natural gas reserve pit.

One Garfield County commissioner is trying to make the others toe the party line behind majority opinions.
