McInnis paid $300,000 by Hasan family for odd water research project
Over the weekend, the Hasan Family Foundation posted a series of articles on its website called “Musings on Water” authored by GOP gubernatorial candidate Scott McInnis. These are some of the articles the six-term congressman authored for a hefty $300,000 from the prominent Colorado conservative donor Hasan family for work to be completed in 2005 and 2006. It's a gig that would make even the few non-struggling writers in the state green with envy.

Colorado guv candidates agree on jobs, differ on oil industry regulation
DENVER—In their first appearance together, Colorado's three major gubernatorial candidates on Tuesday agreed that jobs and the economy are the dominant issues in this year’s election. Republicans Dan Maes and Scott McInnis championed the oil and gas industry in the state and decried regulation. Democrat John Hickenlooper said the ongoing British Petroleum oil leak in the Gulf of Mexico-- already the worst environmental catastrophe in U.S. history and as devastating to Gulf state industries as it may prove to be to BP-- demonstrated that smart regulation meant simply ensuring "best practices" for the oil and gas industry in the state.
Coffman, Colorado GOP clamor for environmental protection after blasting Salazar for...
U.S. Rep. Mike Coffman’s scathing attack on Interior Secretary Ken Salazar Wednesday at a House Natural Resources Committee oversight hearing on the Deepwater Horizon oil spill sounded a little like a jewel thief berating the cops for not catching him sooner.
GOP-tea party favorite Maes wants it both ways on abortion
LAKEWOOD-- GOP gubernatorial candidate Dan Maes, coming off of victory over six-term Congressman Scott McInnis in the GOP state assembly this weekend, told the Colorado Independent that he was now clear frontrunner in the race for governor. The reason for his success, he said, is that he's the true conservative in the race and that he was chosen by the tea party organically to lead on the right. He also said there was no inconsistency with simultaneously wanting less government intrusion and opposing abortion rights and gay marriage. He said he fully embraced the proposed personhood amendment but mostly as a statement and that he didn't think the amendment would actually outlaw abortion.
Hickenlooper would retain Ritter order on state employee partnerships
Denver Mayor and candidate for governor John Hickenlooper plans to retain Gov. Bill Ritter's executive order authorizing state-employee partnerships, or lesser-grade labor unions, at least for now, his campaign told the Colorado independent Wednesday. "We believe it makes sense to leave the order in place and to ensure that it is followed while it is evaluated," George Merritt, spokesperson for the campaign said.
