PPP Colorado poll: Lukewarm on Obama; even less warm on likely...

Americans are deeply dissatisfied with officeholders across the political spectrum, and in swing-state Colorado, a key battleground for next year's presidential election, the hot enthusiasm generated here by candidate Obama three years ago has cooled considerably, according to a new survey conducted by Public Policy Polling. Although, the methodology of the poll has rightly come under scrutiny (same as every poll), given the historically dismal economy and the battering Obama has taken on the right since he entered the White House, it's remarkable that PPP pollsters found he nevertheless notched double-digit leads in the state over every potential GOP opponent except Mitt Romney, whom he leads here by 7 points.

Western Conservative Summit delivers pizza guy for prez, strange takes on...

The Western Conservative Summit in Denver over the weekend saw former Pennsylvania U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum backpedaling mightily on New York’s new marriage equality law, Focus on the Family founder James Dobson rushing to the defense of Michele and Marcus Bachmann on ex-gay therapy, and former Godfather’s Pizza CEO Herman Cain celebrating a straw poll win.

Palin run could complicate Bachmann’s candidacy

Minnesota congresswoman and Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann has been rocketing up polls in early primary and caucus states of Iowa and New Hampshire.

Video: Palin campaign movie coming to Highlands Ranch

Sarah Palin's movie is airing in select Tea Party friendly locations around the country this week-- eight locations so far, including Highlands Ranch, Colorado, where it's showing Friday evening. Palin asked conservative filmmaker Stephen Bannon to make the film, apparently as message vehicle for a 2012 presidential run. The title is "Undefeated," which will leave some critics scratching their heads. Palin's most high-profile political campaign-- her 2008 vice presidential bid-- ended in resounding defeat.

Iowa GOP split on who to endorse for 2012

Endorsement of a candidate can often excite voters, especially Republicans and social conservatives as they try to find the candidate who best speaks to their values and can take over the White House next year.

Mall of America hearts Sarah and Bristol Palin

In advance of Independence Day weekend, the Palins visited the Mall of America in Minnesota to sell books. The 1,500 people who showed up beginning at roughly 5 a.m. were subject to strict rules meant to ensure the safety of the celebrity memoirists and to guarantee sales of Bristol's book. Award-winning photojournalist Kathy Easthagen, an American Independent News Network contributor, was on the scene. She snapped shots of the event and wrote down the Palin Rules of Engagement & Commerce.

James Dobson’s endorsement could be key in GOP primary

If you're a Republican and you want to be president, there are a number of people around the country considered king makers, and one of them is in Colorado Springs.

Iowa 2012 GOP Presidential Power Rankings: To split, or not to...

When it comes to politics, there is no denying the pull of momentum. And while it is clear that for this eighth edition of our Power Rankings U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann owns it, there is also no denying that social and religious conservatives in the state still have choices to make.

Latest Palin tell-all: More of the same ugly

Frank Bailey was Sarah Palin's aide and he was her heavy. He played a role in "Troopergate," for example, working behind the scenes to get Palin's ex-brother-in-law, state trooper Mike Wooten, fired after Wooten divorced Palin's sister. Now Bailey is riddled with regret. He says Palin was not the political breath of fresh air he thought she was. She's self-concerned and ambitious and a prima donna. She wrote glowing letters to the editor about herself, has a fake tan, and can't be bothered to stick to a schedule. Bailey doesn't like Palin. His book, "Blind Allegiance," appears to add flesh to the Palin persona, but there doesn't seem to be much new here. Palin haters won't be surprised by any of it. Palin lovers won't care. But the U.K. Daily Mail loves it.

In Thursday night’s Fox GOP presidential debate, a snapshot of a...

Republicans won an historic number of Congressional seats in the midterm election just six months ago. Tonight Fox News is hosting the first 2012 GOP presidential primary election debate and it will feature something like the weakest early lineup of candidates in modern memory. Serious Republican strategists will be watching either in denial or in panic through fingers stretched across their eyes.
