The GOP’s anti-abortion ‘army of IRS agents’
Last year Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann led the Republican charge against health care reform legislation, arguing that it would be the worst kind of big government intrusion. She warned it would insert government between Americans and their doctors and that the Obama Administration would let loose an army of IRS agents to knock on doors and force citizens to pay up for insurance. Yet, as Mother Jones reported last week, Bachmann and other anti-abortion Congressional Republicans this year have proposed a series of bills that would put government between women and their doctors and set loose the IRS to investigate how women who had abortions became pregnant and how they paid for their abortions.
PPP: Republican voters express lingering fear of undead ACORN
Hollywood-comedy-writer-turned-news-satirist Andy Borowitz takes aim today at the alternative reality created at Fox News. "Afraid to Watch the News, Millions Turn to Fox... Channel Offers Welcome Break from Reality, Psychologists Say." Borowitz's jab comes with extra sting in light of Public Policy Polling's recent survey of Republican voters. According to the March 15 poll, 25 percent of Republicans -- i.e., 80 percent of Fox watchers-- believe that the no-longer-existing low-income housing and voter registration group ACORN will steal the 2012 presidential election for Barack Obama.
Abortion opponents relish opportunity to shut government down
Former Colorado Congresswoman Marilyn Musgrave hosted an internet conference with anti-abortion rights activists and lawmakers Tuesday focused on efforts to strip federal funding from Planned Parenthood. Musgrave was joined by Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann, who explained that earlier in the day she voted to shut the government down because the compromise budget resolution that will keep the government running includes funding for Planned Parenthood and “Obamacare.”

An aide to former Alaska Gov. Tom Tancredo said on Saturday the United States is the last hope for the Western world after the fall of Europe to "Islamasization."
"Why is it so important, why does everyone have to explain the importance of having other people come to keep aspects of their culture but attack our desire to retain our own?" Tancredo asked the audience while speaking the Conservative Western Summit.
Tancredo was part of a host of guest speakers inlcuding Michele Bauchmann, Michelle Malkin and other talk-radio-regulars speaking to a crowded ballroom at the summit hosted by the Centenial Insitute and 710 KNUS.
