Would you like some irony with that baggie of medical marijuana? Well, like it or not, you're getting some. Medical marijuana has been legal for a decade or so in various U.S. states but it wasn't until the Ogden memo of 2009 that it really took off. Today, another memo from the same agency has marijuana providers and regulators looking over their shoulders.

You don't see this everyday. The Philadelphia Inquirer has published an editorial praising NJ Governor Chris Christie for finally getting off the nickel and beginning implementation of that state's medical marijuana laws.

As advocates of legalizing marijuana in Colorado kick off a campaign to begin gathering signatures today with a press conference in front of the City and County Building, the UK's Daily Mail publishes a major photo essay on medical marijuana in Denver.

Angering both sides, a judge in Montana has upheld some parts of the state's restrictive new medical marijuana laws and thrown other parts to the wind.

The Colorado Springs City Council decided unanimously last week to impose a $2,200 charge on all medical marijuana businesses in the city. The fee went into effect July 1 and applies to all new and existing businesses. Prior to this vote, medical marijuana businesses were only required to pay a $500 pre-registration fee.

These came to a head in March, when an update to the National Cancer Institute’s (NCI) treatment database went into detail about the treatment potential of marijuana as prescribed for cancer patients.
