In advance of Independence Day weekend, the Palins visited the Mall of America in Minnesota to sell books. The 1,500 people who showed up beginning at roughly 5 a.m. were subject to strict rules meant to ensure the safety of the celebrity memoirists and to guarantee sales of Bristol's book. Award-winning photojournalist Kathy Easthagen, an American Independent News Network contributor, was on the scene.
