Sardines for Obama: INVESCO light rail station overwhelmed
Crowds have packed the RTD light rail only to discover — much too late — that the trains aren't stopping at the INVESCO Field station where the Democratic National Convention will wrap up tonight with Barack Obama accepting the party's nomination.
Porn protesters push the weirdness envelope at the DNC
On day 3 of the DNC, it’s official: we’ve seen it all on the protest front. An organization calling itself Stop Bird Porn marched on Denver’s 16th Street Mall Wednesday, warning people that “bird watchers are voyeurs who seek vicarious sexual gratification in the woods” by observing “God’s defenseless creatures mating.”
Biden on Biden
"There's no press here but don't worry - I'm not going to slip into a Bidenism."

Where are Denver’s homeless during the DNC?
Denver's social service providers beefed up for the Democratic National Convention to make sure that the city's homeless were well cared for during the chaotic event. But those efforts may have been for naught. According to Greta Walker, spokeswoman with the Denver Rescue Mission, it was business as usual at the Lawrence Street shelter. Though the organization provided 300 beds over the typical 200, just 250 cots were occupied throughout the week.
‘Pickens Plan’ promotes renewable energy, economic security
“The fact that I am on stage with T. Boone Pickens just goes to show how absolutely dysfunctional our government has been,” Carl Pope, the executive director of the Sierra Club said Wednesday in Denver.
What he’s talking about is the idea that the Bush presidency’s fealty to Big Oil is now making for strange bedfellows.
Obama-rama: Hordes of vendors bank on souvenir sales
Some of Denver’s 50,000 DNC guests may realize they’ve been remiss about owning a flag pin, or that their bathroom has always been missing that John McCain toilet paper, or that the perfect birthday present for Grandma is an “Obama Mama” T-shirt when they arrive for the Democratic National Convention (DNC). Hundreds of vendors of convention-related wares hope so, anyway.
Democrats look to Rocky Mountain West for victory
Nearly a year ago, Dick Wadhams, the chairman of the Republican Party of Colorado, stood at a window inside the Denver Center for Performing Arts. He was gazing out, at the sparkling nighttime panoramic of downtown Denver.
“I’m just looking out — out there at the Pepsi Center — and thinking about next August,” Wadhams said, turning up a sardonic grin, “when the Democrats nominate Hillary Clinton as their candidate for president.”
Wadhams is the spinmeister once dubbed “Karl Rove 2.0” for his hardball campaign tactics. He had returned home to Colorado just months before, following the stunning Macaca moment and defeat of his candidate, then-Virginia Sen. George Allen.
VIDEO: Toward an expanded Senate majority for Dems
Amidst the DNC hoopla, Rep. Mark Udall spoke at a Democratic Senate Campaign Committee press conference in Denver. Udall is in a pitched battle with ex-Congressman Bob Schaffer for the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by the retiring Sen. Wayne Allard.
LIVEBLOG: No on Amendment 48
I'm here at the Big Tent listening in on a panel discussing the "personhood" amendment that will be on the ballot in Colorado that seeks to confer constitutional rights on fertilized human eggs.
VIDEO: Images from the Iraq Veterans Against the War March
Iraq Veterans Against the War staged a protest march at the Democratic National Convention. Thousands of anti-war demonstrators were joined by members of the band Rage Against the Machine and concert-goers in a peaceful stroll from the Colorado Colosseum to the Pepsi Center.
The veterans briefly blocked the delegates' entrance until an official with the Obama campaign agreed to meet with a leader of the group.
