CANCÚN, MEXICO — There are rumblings around Cancún that China may be willing to legally commit to its domestic cuts in carbon emissions. Negotiators, ministers and world leaders are currently in the second week of talks at the Conference of the Parties of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 16).

Despite an exemption from a proposed cap on greenhouse gas emissions, Big Agriculture has declared war on clean energy legislation making its way through Congress. Grist has the details on what it describes as a sop to large agribusinesses to continue its old, polluting ways:

A “Green Recovery” proposal from NRDC Sept. 9 details how a $100 billion program could use tax credits, loans and public-private partnerships to jumpstart environmentally friendly businesses that would create two million jobs – including 32,000 in Colorado – in the next two years.
