Investigative series on GOP front groups leads to IRS complaint
Three weeks after The Colorado Independent launched a series of reports detailing the shadowy group Western Skies Coalition, the watchdog group Colorado Ethics Watch has filed an IRS complaint asking for an immediate investigation into whether Western Skies, along with three other 501(c)4 nonprofits, are truly engaged in “social welfare” activities — or if their activities are actually more akin to hard core politicking.
Schaffer vs. Udall: Mud in your eye, beer in your face
There was maybe one good thing to come from an otherwise embarrassing display on national television by the two candidates running for one of the most hotly contested U.S. Senate races in the country: Bob Schaffer has found something new besides gas prices to blame Mark Udall for: the crash of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
Bob Schaffer suddenly concerned about energy
When Republican Bob Schaffer accepted the state GOP nomination to run for U.S. Senate on May 31, the price of a gallon of gasoline in Colorado had shot up to just below $4. Bob Schaffer plays with pigs with lipstick too

On Wednesday one of the nation's most influential union federations announced plans on to send mailings to thousands of households across the state, characterizing Republican U.S. Senate hopeful Bob Schaffer as caring only about “Big Oil.”
Palin’s Secret Service code name likely not Schaffer’s favorite
When Sarah Palin picked "Denali" as her Secret Service code name, was she subtly mocking Bob Schaffer?
Setting aside politics on September 11

Why Bob Schaffer’s Iraq oil deal matters
I continue to be amazed that former Colorado Congressman Bob Schaffer, who is currently running for the U.S. Senate, fails to recognize that his actions and those of his most recent employer, Aspect Energy, undermined US policy in Iraq. The facts speak for themselves.
Pro-war, anti-tax groups launch two Udall attack ads
An aging hippie standing outside a smoke-filled van joins an attack on "eminent domain abuse" as two high-spending outside groups launched new attack ads against Democratic Senate candidate Rep. Mark Udall this week.
Schaffer, Udall face YouTube questions in online debate
After a brief, unexplained delay, the YouTube You Choose Spotlight shines on the Colorado Senate race Tuesday as Rep. Mark Udall and former Rep. Bob Schaffer post videotaped answers to five questions submitted by YouTubers at You Choose '08.
