The University of Colorado – Boulder is the newest large employer in the country to cut its workers’ hours to skirt the mandate under the Affordable Care Act to provide health insurance for part-time employees. Except for federal work-study students, all student-employee hours will be capped at 25 hours a week — 5 less than what qualifies as part-time work according to the ACA. Representatives at the public university maintain that cutting costs is a necessary step in keeping the price of tuition down. Via the Daily Camera.

Incumbent Mayor Michael Hancock’s opposition to legalization is simply out of touch with Coloradans, they reckon. In the 5th day of a lockdown of soldiers in a Fort Carson battalion, the only explanation provided by the Army — “missing government property” — was practically an open invitation for conspiracy theories. On Monday, the public obliged, when rumors that a low-yield nuclear weapon had gone missing at the base spread like wildfire on the internet. Sources at the post told the Gazette that a 9mm pistol is in fact the “missing government property” responsible for the lockdown.
