Chasing Light: Eyecandy
[dropcap]I[/dropcap]t’s great to shoot photos on assignment or to illustrate a story, but sometimes, it’s fun to just go out and take pictures for the sake of taking pictures. I’ve been playing around with the iPhone’s panoramic setting for a while, trying to find the sweet spot, where I end up with high quality and high resolution images while getting a big slice of the landscape into the frame. I’ve learned that, if you try a full 180-degree shot, you’ll definitely lose some picture quality, but doing a short sweep (say, 90 degrees) can work really well, like the first image in this set. And I’m continually amazed by the ability of the iPhone sensor to pick up nuances, especially in low-light situations. When I next decide to update my SLR camera, I will definitely be looking for a model with a sensor that matches the iPhone’s performance in those settings.
