Ronald Brownstein argues in the National Journal that the problem of resegregation isn’t as bad as some say, but that “racial and economic isolation remains daunting: One recent study found that three-fourths of African-Americans and two-thirds of Hispanics attend schools where a majority of the students qualify as low-income.” What’s different today, he says, is that with the nation’s growing diversity, the stakes grow ever greater.
