Gardner raises $1.4M; $1.2M in first month of Senate race

U.S. Rep. Cory Gardner’s campaign raised $1.2 million in the first month of his race for U.S. Senate, amassing a total of $1.4 million through the end of March 31 this year.

Gardner switched in late February from his 4th Congressional District race to run against Democratic Mark Udall for the U.S. Senate. His campaign has $2.1 million in the bank as of the end of March.

That compares with Udall’s $2 million haul in the first quarter of this year. His campaign has $5.9 million in the bank through the end of March.

Campaign finance filings are due April 15 to the Federal Election Commission. Senate candidates aren’t required to file electronically, so their paper filings are often not available for days after the deadline.

Gardner’s first quarter fundraising is considerably more than the $914,521 combined that previous Colorado GOP Senate candidates raised in 2013. Weld County District Attorney Ken Buck led 2013 fundraising with almost $383,000 followed by state Sen. Owen Hill with almost $360,000.

Buck, Hill and five other candidates dropped out of the Senate race after Gardner announced his entry. In a game of political musical chairs, Buck is now running for Gardner’s 4th CD seat.

State Sen. Randy Baumgardner hasn’t dropped out of the GOP Senate race. He raised $3,314 in 2013, according to the FEC. He and Gardner must snag 30 percent of the delegate vote at Saturday’s state GOP assembly to make the June 24 primary ballot.

  1. Cory Gardner is a mental and moral pipsqueak. He has sold out to the rich and all you need to do to see that is to look at his voting record. He hasn’t done a THING for this state, only for the rich who come here and RUIN our lives. He is NOT a representative of the PEOPLE, but of BIG MONEY. NOTHING ELSE.

Why ANYONE who isn’t in the top 1% would support this little sell out is 100% beyond me. I grew up and was taught that our representatives are supposed to be in DC for US. He is clearly NOT there for us. DO NOT put this little jerk wad in a higher office, RETIRE HIM IMMEDIATELY. We can’t afford HIS type of “representation”.
