We know what we have to put aside while we watch the Winter Olympics. As George Packer notes in the New Yorker, that would include the threat of terrorism, the anti-gay propaganda, the human rights violations. But, Packer writes: “These make me uneasy, too, but for sheer moral horror nothing can compare with Putin’s role in perpetuating a war that has killed well over a hundred thousand people and displaced more than nine million, with no end in sight.”
