Utah has apparently decided that the refusal of the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals to grant a stay against gay marriages is an emergency. They see the emergency in the thousand or so same-sex couples–in Utah!–who have already been married. So they’re going to ask the Supreme Court to intervene, which is apparently quite unusual, but not as unusual as the sight of people taking advantage of the unexpected right for all to marry.
Here’s the emergency: Salt Lake County has set a record for most marriage licenses issued in a day. Via the New Yorker.
