Daily Show comes to Denver for a Saturday kick in the pants

OK. It’s finally time for a little sanity. From now until the election, all candidates have agreed to run only positive ads, to disavow outside dollars and to speak highly of their opponents. No, that won’t happen, but Saturday morning, the Rally to Restore Sanity will rumble into Denver.

The main event, sponsored by Comedy Central’s Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert, of course, will be taking place on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. at the same time.

After the jump, we have crazy funny video from the Daily Show of a bus full of “random citizens” heading to the rally.

More than 2,600 people have signed on to the facebook page and organizers have raised more than $7,500 for the big party at Denver’s Civic Center Park from 9 to 3 on Saturday.

While it is not a political event per se, there will be politicians in attendance. Gubernatorial candidate John Hickenlooper has confirmed that he will be attending, as will the hardest working man in Colorado politics, Libertarian candidate for governor James Brown.

There will be live feeds from the DC event via jumbotron. There will be live music. including a performance by Johnny5, lead singer of the Flobots, who may also speak.
