Republican Weld County District Attorney Ken Buck and Democratic Sen. Michael Bennet are in a virtual tie in the race for U.S. Senate in Colorado, while Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper has a 12-point lead over his Republican opponent, Dan Maes, in the gubernatorial contest, according to Rasmussen Reports.
Buck has a 47-44 percent edge over Bennet, well within the margin of error of +/- 4 points. A Reuters/Ipsos poll last week showed Buck with a larger lead, 49-40 percent. Earlier in August, Rasmussen showed Buck with a 46-41 percent lead.
Hickenlooper has a 36-24 percent lead over Maes, with 14 percent preferring American Constitution Party candidate Tom Tancredo. Tancredo is taking votes from Maes, as he only Maes the support of 45 percent of Republican voters. Only 54 percent of Maes’ supporters are certain that they will vote for him and won’t change their mind.
