It is good to see that British Petroleum is finally doing the right thing — acting aggressively in a way that will forestall future problems for the company. That’s right, the Durango Herald reported Thursday that BP is removing its logos from company trucks in Southwest Colorado.
The Durango office of BP is removing the logos from around 200 vehicles because employees have reported harassment from the public. There have also been instances of vandalism.
BP America says it’s going to step up natural gas drilling in La Plata County this fall. But the Colorado Independent reviewed state records and revealed the company self-reported 141 produced water spills totaling nearly 1.2 million gallons of fluids in the county since 2002, so even its onshore reputation isn’t spotless.
Once they get evidence of BP removed from their trucks, maybe they can get evidence of BP removed from the Gulf and other places they drill. You have to start somewhere.
