CD4 Congresswoman Betsy Markey isn’t the only Democrat in the state feeling the heat from failed vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin’s “Tea Party Tour.” CD3’s John Salazar also made it onto the “Going Rogue” author’s map of cross-haired districts.
Two GOP opponents of Salazar, who landed on Palin’s hit list this election season for his health care reform vote, are salivating at the prospect of the former Alaska governor giving their respective campaigns a bump.
“I hope this means she will come visit our beautiful state so I can show her how much more beautiful it will be when we get the government off our back and get people back to work,” Bob McConnell of Steamboat Springs told the Grand Junction Daily Sentinel. “I will be at the plane to greet her and proud to stand by her side the entire visit.”
Scott Tipton of Cortez said Salazar “and his government-run health care mandates are out of touch with the people of Colorado.” The paper said Salazar representatives did not immediately respond to the comments made by Tipton and McConnell.
A logical place for such a rally might be the conservative confines of Grand Junction, where Sen. John McCain and then running mate Palin made frequent campaign stops and ultimately won surrounding Mesa County.
