Colin Hanna, president of the National Federation of Republican Assemblies, told gatherers at the national Conservative Political Action Conference this week that the rift is over, that the Tea Party amounts to just an infusion of new blood, new energy and new members. It has been a dominant theme at CPAC. Hanna said the Mount Vernon Statement and signing Wednesday just outside of Washington, signaled a merging of the “conservative movement and the Tea Party movement.”
“All factions, all strands of the conservative movement come together and agree. The principles of limited government, individual liberty, personal responsibility, those things are the foundation of the entire movement … the Tea Party is with us.”
The Tea Party, maybe. The genuine libertarians, maybe not so much.
