On Wednesday, one of the nation’s most influential union federations announced plans to send mailings to thousands of households across the state, characterizing Republican U.S. Senate hopeful Bob Schaffer as caring only about “Big Oil.”
The AFL-CIO announced that it will be targeting 25,000 “swing voters” in the state through the postal system by sending out the political mailings en masse. Calls will also be made to the undecideds before and after they receive the mailings, federation officials say.
The effort will be paid for by the political contributions committee of the AFL-CIO Committee on Political Education (COPE).
Schaffer is running against Democrat Mark Udall for the open Senate seat that will vacated by Sen. Wayne Allard, who is retiring.
