After an ultimately unsuccessful run for president, Colorado’s Republican Rep. Tom Tancredo is directing his attention toward a new menace: professional female golfers.
It’s not a joke. Tancredo released a press statement on Friday, calling out the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) for having the gall to repeal a new and controversial proposal that would have changed the association’s policy to require that all players speak English.
The association’s take on repealing the proposal is that the move will allow talented players from overseas to feel more welcome, but Tancredo doesn’t see it that way, according to a statement on his congressional Web site, which actually tries to paint the golfers as kowtowing to some kind of liberal immigrant peer pressure:
“The English policy was aimed at helping players both on and off the course,” Tancredo said. “Now it seems the LPGA has given in to the demands of the politically correct left and ‘immigrant rights’ groups.”
