Denver’s one-of-a-kind anti-terrorism museum opened to the public yesterday. The Center for Empowered Living and Learning, dubbed The Cell for short, aims to educate people about the root of terrorism and what they can do to stop it with its inaugural exhibit, called “Anyone, Anytime, Anywhere: Understanding the Threat of Terrorism.”
Located in the Civic Center Cultural Complex across from the Denver Art Museum, The Cell provides a historical perspective on terrorism and features video clips of world leaders expounding on the issue. The museum takes a broad approach to terrorism, including both Al-Qaeda and abortion clinic bombers among its perpetrators. Admission is $6 for adult Colorado residents.
The Cell is the brainchild of Larry Mizel, CEO of MDC Holdings, a home building company, and counts Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper and former New York Mayor and failed Republican presidential candidate Rudolph Giuliani as contributors.
