More than 100 protesters from several different organizations took a polluter tour of downtown Denver yesterday, walking past Xcel Energy headquarters and other companies to decry “Denver’s Dirtiest,” the “polluters of global proportions bankrolling” the Democratic National Convention, as an event flier read.
“We’re against greenwashing,” one protester said, “when major polluters try to seem more environmentally friendly.”
After walking through downtown, protesters stopped at a small park at 15th and Arapahoe streets for a rally, drumming and dancing in circles with black and green flags. They were followed by seven police squads that lined the street.
“We thanked them for coming,” joked the protester. “We thanked them for showing solidarity and marching with us.”
