In an irony of ironies, the pro-oil, anti-tax advocacy group Americans for Prosperity was forced to cancel an Aug. 19 meeting in Florida due to … Tropical Storm Fay.
AFP, which opened a Colorado chapter this summer, advocates drilling on U.S. soil and often chides “environmental alarmists” who are concerned by global warming.
According to the Pew Research Center on Global Climate Change, global warming has contributed to an increased frequency of tropical storms and hurricanes.
The AFP may deride global warming as a myth, but the group at least took this storm seriously, posting this brief message on its Web site:
Ft. Myers and West Palm Beach Town Hall Meetings Rescheduled
The August 19th Ft. Myers town hall and August 21st West Palm Beach town hall will be rescheduled as a result of Tropical Storm Fay. We apologize for any inconvenience.
