Painting, sorting canned goods and playground cleanup are a few of the projects Democratic National Convention Committee members and volunteers have tackled in the Denver area. On Tuesday, it will be office work.
Convention CEO Leah D. Daughtry and DNCC staff will get a little help from their friends, Texas state Sen. Leticia Van de Putte, co-chair of the 2008 Democratic National Convention, and Denver City Councilwoman Judy Montero, for Tuesday’s DNCC Service Day project at noon at Clinica Tepeyac, a community health center serving uninsured working families in Denver.
The DNCC group has been assigned various administrative tasks so clinic staff can work on a grant request for state primary care funds.
Last month’s service day activity, painting classrooms at Denver’s Manual High School, included DNC chair Howard Dean.
Other DNCC Service Days projects have included serving breakfast to homeless and runaway youth at Urban Peak, sorting canned goods for a Denver Rescue Mission facility and cleaning a Five Point school playground area.
