On his travels to Grand Junction and Rifle today and Saturday, Gov. Bill Ritter will get a cold reception. Brrrrr. It’s been below zero on the Western Slope for days. No doubt with extra layers of clothing and insulated boots, mountain-area mayors will be meeting with Ritter to talk about local issues at the Rifle City Hall starting at 3:15 today.
Then the governor will journey to Grand Junction at 5 p.m. for a special event at Mesa State College. Ritter announced he was supporting the request for $18.4 million in state funding to renovate and expand the college’s Saunders Fieldhouse.
Afterward, Ritter is going to take in a varsity boy’s basketball game at 7 p.m. at the Grand Junction High School.
On Saturday, the public is welcome to join Rep. Bernie Buescher and Gov. Ritter for coffee at the Traders Coffee & Tea Co. in Grand Junction at 8 a.m.
Long underwear and a parka may be needed for the final event on Ritter’s trip – a tour of a Williams Production RMT energy-development site equipped with a high-tech drilling rig outside of Rifle.
