Nothing starts a media convention event better than having a reception at a brewery. Free beer?! The press will definitely show up.The Democratic National Convention Committee (DNCC) invited national, local and online media outlets, including bloggers, for a two-day gathering that highlighted Denver and outline preparations for the Democratic Convention.
The City of Denver offered the national media guided tours of the Mile High City to places like the Denver Art Museum, Coors Field and the LoDo District. Monday there was a pre-walk-through reception at the Wynkoop Brewing Company downtown.
According to DNCC officials, the walk-through served as an opportunity for news organizations to become acquainted with the Pepsi Center site and plans for the 2008 Convention.
The media got an overview of the housing application and hotel room reservation process, the credential application and distribution process, the Convention transportation system, site access and security procedures, media workspace in and outside the Pepsi Center and information regarding DNCC-selected vendors, including telecommunication and exposition services.
DNC chair Howard Dean will be joining the festivities at the Pepsi Center for lunch on Tuesday.
Colorado Confidential will offer continued coverage of the Democratic National Convention set for Denver from August 25-28, 2008.
