Catching up to Gov. Ritter for a short five-minute interview during his current Western Slope visit wasn’t easy. On Friday, he was scheduled to be in Craig, Rifle and Eagle mostly traveling by car. Ritter had started his day about 6 a.m. and he wasn’t going to stop until about 14 hours later.
He did delay his lunch in Rifle (after all it was around 3 p.m.) to talk to Colorado Confidential about saving special places like the Roan Plateau and Vermillion Basin; his state-wide task forces; the national attention on Colorado’s energy resources; and working with the Republicans in and out of the Capitol.

Gov. Ritter had a busy day on the Western Slope before this interview. In the morning he had met with the Moffat County officials about energy development and Vermillion Basin. Ritter also had a question and answer session at a Boys and Girls Club event that had attracted over 200 people.
A Craig local noted that Ritter had visited the area twice since his January inauguration — while former Republican Governor Bill Owens had only stopped by two times during his whole eight-year tenure.
Friday afternoon in his fifth or sixth visit to Rifle, Ritter was the guest speaker at the 20th anniversary celebration for the Veteran’s Nursing Home in Rifle and toured a new Colorado Mountain Campus in town. Friday evening he joined the Eagle County Democrats for an event.
On Saturday, Ritter is visiting Alamosa.
