Consumer health advocates are being invited to apply for a spot on the new Colorado Rural Health Grant Council. The council was created by an executive order issued by Gov. Bill Ritter last week and is charged with distributing $7.5 million in grants over the next six years. The money was donated by health care provider UnitedHealth Group.
continued…United Health Group is looking for up to six private citizens with an interest in the rural health care crisis to join the council and help determine where the greatest needs are. Other council members will represent the Division of Insurance, the Governor’s Office of Policy and Initiatives and the departments of Health Care Policy and Financing, Public Health and Environment and Local Affairs.
