After months of hearing about and talking to colleagues about and writing about major cutbacks and layoffs occuring in newsrooms across Colorado and the country – and hearing the standard line from the suits upstairs about how this trend is not only exciting but will prove to be a positive thing – an essay by Roy Peter Clark really struck home.
Clark, a vice president and senior scholar at the Poynter Institute, a school for journalists and journalism teachers, wrote the essay, titled “When Media Leaders Paint the Big Lie” on July 11 –
