Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Mark Udall raised $1.1 million in the second quarter, his campaign announced today.
Udall now has $2.5 million in the bank for a race that’s expected to be one of the most competitive in the nation.
The GOP candidate in the race, State Board of Education member Bob Schaffer won’t release numbers until next week, said campaign manager Pat Fiske.
More on the flip…“This impressive number reflects the early and deep support Mark Udall has earned in Colorado by doing things the right way, focusing on the challenges faced by middle class and working families and providing the kind of independent leadership Coloradans expect and deserve,” said Mike Melanson, Udall’s campaign manager, in a prepared statement.
Udall’s numbers are impressive, after a first quarter in which he raised $324,000. Elsewhere on these pages pundits said Udall would have to do better than that… and he has.
Udall and Schaffer are running for the seat being vacated by U.S. Sen. Wayne Allard, a Loveland Republican.
