Jared Polis’s news release formally announcing his candidacy for Congress emphasizes equality of opportunity, quality public education, health care, environment, and an end to to the war in Iraq.
“All Americans deserve the opportunity to live their dreams,” said Polis.
“And that opportunity stems from the foundation of a strong public education system, affordable healthcare, strong environmental stewardship, and a national commitment to eliminate the vicious cycle of poverty.”“Here in Colorado I have been fortunate enough to be a part of a strong community that values diversity and respects our differences, but our health care and educational systems rarely match our American promise; I will provide leadership to change that.”
“We must end the war in Iraq so we can focus on combating poverty and discrimination and growing a more inclusive and sustainable economy here at home.”
Polis has devoted much of his public work to education, serving on the state Board of Education. He’s also a board member for Colorado Conservation Voters.
