Congressman John Salazar (CO-3) has been appointed to serve on three House committees: Agriculture, Transportation and Infrastructure, and Veterans’ Affairs.Salazar will face issues including renewable energy, disaster assistance, conservation, crop insurance, forestry, and bioterrorism on the ag committee. Plus, he will help oversee the reauthorization of the federal farm programs in the current Farm Bill, which authorizes commodity support, agricultural trade, marketing, food assistance and rural development policies, according to Salazar’s office.
The House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure oversees the building of major projects such as highways, bridges, airports and public transit systems. Salazar sits on two subcommittees: the Water Resources and Environment Subcommittee, and the Aviation Subcommittee (Salazar is a pilot).
As a veteran himself, veteran’s issues have always been one of Salazar’s interests. Within the Veterans’ Affairs Committee, Salazar will be on the Health Subcommittee.
