Gubernatorial candidate and CD-7 Congressman Bob Beauprez touched off a firestorm of controversy last week when he stated “as high as 70 percent, maybe even more” of pregnancies among African-American women end in abortion. As reported by Colorado Confidential, Beauprez – the former banker and businessman – was forced to make a public apology for citing the false statistic.
Not to be outdone in the “math is hard” department, Colorado Media Matters noted that conservative radio host Dan Caplis asked Beauprez in an interview on KHOW-AM on Tuesday: “is there any difference between 42 percent or 70 percent?”According to Caplis’ biography at the KHOW-AM website:
Dan Caplis, co-host of 630 KHOW’s Caplis & Silverman Show and senior partner of the law firm of Caplis & Scipione, LLC, began his career as a civil trial lawyer over 20 years ago. Throughout his media career, Caplis has covered many high profile trials including the OJ Simpson Trial, the Rodney King Trial, the Mike Tyson Trial and the United Bank murder case.
In his spare time, Caplis also enjoys playing in a competitive softball league and coaching his son’s youth league baseball team.
Let’s hope Caplis is not in charge of keeping the teams’ statistics.
