Jared Polis has chosen as his gubernatorial running mate Dianne Primavera, former Broomfield state legislator and current CEO of Susan G. Komen Colorado.
The Twitter account for Polis’s campaign announced the Boulder Democrat would be announcing his pick for lieutenant governor at 6 p.m., then trickled clues throughout the day: the person is a native of Colorado, a new grandparent, an owner of two dogs and two fish, and an avid dancer.
Primavera, 68, is all of those things, and she may now be Colorado’s next lieutenant governor.
She and Polis will face off against state Treasurer Walker Stapleton and his as-yet-unannounced running mate in November’s general election.
Primavera represented House District 33 for eight years. She served on committees for health care, human services, transportation and energy, and health insurance while a legislator.
She is a 29-year breast cancer survivor who was tapped just over a year ago to lead Susan G. Komen Colorado, the non-profit fighting breast cancer.
Polis and Primavera will appear together for events on the Western Slope.
