In an interview with a Colorado Springs radio talk show host Tuesday, former lieutenant governor and Republican candidate for U.S. Senate Jane Norton said she has never worked as a lobbyist. She was responding to callers looking to feel out her conservative credentials.

“On the lobbyist thing, I’ve not been a lobbyist,” she said.

Eight months pregnant, confused and suffering psychological disorders, Jessica Clyburn jumped from a fifth story window in South Carolina. According to the media, she had attempted unsuccessfully to commit suicide. According to the District Attorneys office, she had committed murder.

“Clyburn survived but suffered a stillbirth as a result of the fall. She was arrested on homicide charges and is still being held without bail,” attorney Lynn M. Paltrow, founder and executive director of National Advocates for Pregnant Women told the Colorado Independent.

The U.S. House voted down an amendment to the Labor, Health, and Human Services bill on Friday that sought to ban all public funding for Planned Parenthood. A spokesman for U.S. Rep. Betsy Markey, who voted against the amendment, said given the state of the economy, “it’s not the time to be focusing on divisive issues like this.”

Federal marshals are protecting a Boulder abortion clinic and the doctor who runs it, a Boulder police spokeswoman said Monday afternoon. The increased security was in place a day after Dr. George Tiller, who ran a similar clinic providing late-term abortions, was gunned down at a church Sunday morning in Wichita, Kan.

Boulder physician Warren Hern, among a handful of doctor in the country to provide very late-term abortions, said Sunday he has been targeted by the anti-abortion movement for years. His Boulder Abortion Clinic has specialized in late-term abortions since its founding in 1975.

“I’m next on the list,” Hern said.

Planned Parenthood Action Center on Friday released a TV ad set to air in Denver and other markets where the McCain campaign has been advertising a claim that Barack Obama favored teaching kindergarteners about sex. The bill supported by Obama, Planned Parenthood says, would in fact teach youngsters to protect themselves from sexual predators.

He is a subcontractor working on the new headquarters of Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains. He and his family are besieged by anti-abortion fanatics in ways that are scary, disgusting and apparently legal.

Joe Scheidler’s opposition to abortion is so virulent that he’s a half-step removed from convicted clinic bomber Eric Rudolph.

So Scheidler’s scheduled appearance Saturday at a protest against Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains’ new regional headquarters is a mixed blessing for opponents of that facility.

A column I wrote gets cited three times in a lie-packed brochure attacking a new Planned Parenthood building in Northeast Denver. Given my decades-old disagreement with folks whose mission is to take away women’s reproductive rights, this sets some kind of record for irony.
