Colorado Secretary of State Scott Gessler appears to have had himself audited. In a witness list he sent Tuesday to the parties involved in an investigation of his discretionary spending last year, Gessler included the name of accountant Kevin Collins.

$1 million in AmeriCorps grants for Colorado announced

Lt.Gov Joseph A. Garcia this week is distributing more than $1 million to four Colorado organizations through Serve Colorado, the Governor’s Commission on Community Service. The funding comes from AmeriCorps grants from the Corporation for National and Community Service. In July, Serve Colorado will announce additional grants supported by $2,437,386 in AmeriCorps money.

John Hickenlooper sworn in as 42nd governor

John Hickenlooper was sworn in today as Colorado’s 42nd governor as flags flew at half mast to honor the dead and injured in Arizona.

He told a small group of reporters gathered in his new office shortly after the ceremony that America depends on free speech for its democracy, but he said that history swings like a pendulum and that it is time for the country to come together.
