The 24th GOP presidential debate in Tampa, Fla., Monday night drove home what has become more clear in the past few weeks: The Republican Party, at this stage in time, is not united — at least when it comes to who they think should lead the country instead of Barack Obama.

FRC pledges full assault on abortion rights this year

By | 01.24.12 | 5:07 am

As anti-abortion activists protested (and abortion-rights activists counter-protested) the 39th anniversary of Roe v. Wade on Capitol Hill Monday, lawmakers and policy leaders gathered at the Family Research Council headquarters in Washington, D.C., to discuss effective anti-abortion strategy in 2012. Many of the speakers used super-charged language when discussing abortion and contraception, and goals centered on the GOP taking control over the Senate and White House in November to advance federal anti-abortion legislation.

But a survey by The American Independent shows that FRC’s state-based affiliates, called family policy councils, have raked in nearly $6 million in state and federal funds over the last five years to work on their own social programming goals.

The rise of anti-abortion-rights OB-GYNs

By | 06.02.11 | 5:44 am

In April, Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer signed a bill that makes it illegal for state colleges to fund medical residency programs that offer abortion training with state or federal money, including money paid by students as part of tuition or fees. U.S. teen birthrate plummets, raising research questions

By | 12.23.10 | 2:39 pm

This year the birth rate for Colorado teenagers dropped significantly, mirroring a record drop for teen births across the country, which hit an all-time-low 3.9 percent, according to a report brought out by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Center for Health Statistics. That’s a 6 percent drop-off from just last year. The figures are being celebrated as a great thing. How did we do it? Some are speculating it’s the bad economy. Some say it’s the roughly $1.5 billion taxpayers have poured into abstinence-only programs. Others say we’re finally mastering contraception. The facts line up in support of the last of those three theories.
