Amending State Constitution moves one step closer to being more difficult

The Colorado House passed a resolution 52-12 today that will give the voters the option of limiting their own ability to change the Colorado Constitution in the next election. SCR 001 now goes back to the Senate, as amended by the House, for final passage.

With the help of a female model packing heat, the bill that could allow Coloradans to conceal their handguns without permit on private K-12 school grounds and across most other areas of Colorado passed out of a House committee Thursday with bipartisan support.

New bill would compel secretary of state to check voter rolls for non-citizens

The Secretary of State will periodically check voter banks for non-citizens if Sen. Ted Harvey, R-Highlands Ranch, gets his way in the House. Partnering with Rep. Chris Holbert, R-Parker, to introduce the bill, HB 1149 would accomplish similar goals as Harvey’s recently defeated bill that would have required proof of citizenship before registering to vote. The bill includes considerable modifications that could serve to defuse some traditional arguments against the this type of legislation.

Republican freshman State Rep. Chris Holbert, R-Parker, and State Sen. Greg Brophy, R-Wray, have introduced a bill that would allow concealed gun toting on grade-school grounds, among other places, without a concealed weapons permit.
