Tea Party Express docks in Denver

By | 03.31.10 | 6:58 pm

DENVER– The Tea Party Express tour (part three) has rolled into town and is holding a rally at the capitol here. The tour is hitting states where Congressional seats are in play and those include seats held by Colorado Democratic Reps Betsy Markey and John Salazar, both called out after their votes in favor of health care reform by Sarah Palin, who seems lately to be solidifying her place at the top of the Tea Party celebrity heap. There are rumors in the crowd here as there were in the capitol hallways today that Palin might speak to the Denver crowd even though it’s not one of the two stops on the tour at which she is scheduled to appear.

Ron Paul CPAC victory more evidence of stiffening right ideology

By | 02.22.10 | 9:07 am

WASHINGTON– The news that Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas) had won the 2010 CPAC presidential straw poll was leaked early, to soften the blow. Before GOP pollster Tony Fabrizio had even begun to click through a Powerpoint presentation that shared the results, reporters were informed of Paul’s easy, 31 percent victory over nine Republicans tipped as serious 2012 contenders. Those reporters started to write stories on Paul’s surprise win, waiting for the official announcement — and an explosion of jeering and booing in the main ballroom of the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel. Sighing with relief, press aides for the annual conservative conference made sure that the on-site media had heard that reaction.

malkinHow to promote “conservative women leaders”? You make a glam calendar of conservative women leaders, of course. At least that’s an approach the Clare Boothe Luce Policy Institute has stuck with for the last five years. The 2010 edition…

Coulter says Kansas abortion doctor was ‘terminated in the 203rd trimester’

By | 06.23.09 | 2:48 pm

Ann Coulter doesn’t “really like to think of it as a murder,” discussing the killing of Kansas abortion provider George Tiller with Bill O’Reilly on Fox News’ The O’Reilly Factor Monday. “I like to think of it as terminating someone in the 203rd trimester,” the conservative personality says.

Ann Coulter bushwacked on radio by conservative Christian abortion foes

By | 03.30.09 | 9:08 am

Ultra-conservative Christian talk radio hosts are taking a new approach to getting their message out — ambushing right-wing pundit Ann Coulter over her support for 2008 GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney, who absolutist antiabortion activists accuse of being “willing to sacrifice children for your vote.”

The Denver-based American Right to Life Action is leading the charge with a YouTube video excerpting Coulter’s on-air radio freak outs and calling on the acid-tongued author to apologize and retract her support for Romney.

50,000 Watts of Hate: Calling out Colorado’s radioactive talk radio

By | 11.17.08 | 9:04 am

A cynic could argue that the invective sputtered on right wing talk radio is simply entertaining shtick designed to create controversy that attracts listeners and advertisers. Yet to hear the noxious rantings of those most targeted on the AM dial — women, lesbians and gay men — is especially disturbing in context of the 2008 election cycle that broke race, sex and gender barriers on both sides of the political spectrum.
