The Congress of Racial Equality, a so-called civil rights group run by conservative activists, and the High Impact Leadership Coalition, an anti-abortion, anti-gay organization, slammed Salazar in a press release this morning, calling him the “King of Diamonds” when it comes to voting against “affordable energy.”

Salazar recently joined a bipartisan Senate group pushing to end tax breaks for offshore oil drilling and to redirect the incentives to renewable energy. The two groups, joined under the moniker the Alliance to Stop the War on the Poor, claim that Salazar’s stance pushes energy prices up, which disproportionately affects the poor.
