DailyKos poll: Salazar beats Tancredo, Elway in 2010 matchups

So what’s democratic U.S. Sen. Ken Salazar going to do with the $400,000 he reportedly pocketed at his first fund raising event of the 2010 re-election campaign to add to the $1.8 million bucks already in the bank?

Buy some voter love if a tepid new DailyKos/Research 2000 poll matchup against ex-Rep. Tom Tancredo and Jon Elway is any indicator. The survey shows Salazar up by double digits in both cases but still hovering dangerously close to the magic 50 percent of ‘aye’ votes for an incumbent.

Republicans downcast but forward-looking in Denver

As Democrats counted win after win this evening, Republicans at the Colorado GOP event in Littleton appeared exhausted as the results rolled in. Thousands of people roamed slowly around the Marriott Hotel and several lounged on chairs and couches in the hallway. A few engaged in philosophical discussion about the election results, while others asked their friends where to find more food or what they had in mind for tomorrow.

Democrat Mark Udall leads Republican Bob Schaffer 51 percent to 38 percent in the race for Colorado’s open Senate seat, amassing winning margins among both sexes and all ages in a Rocky Mountain News-CBS4 poll released Sunday night. Udall trounces Schaffer among the state’s unaffiliated voters — 62 percent to 20 percent — surpassing Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama’s 58 percent support among the group, according to the same news organizations’ poll released late last week.
