GOP no-shows on early vote rally targeting students
Several political groups came together on the Auraria Campus in Denver on Wednesday to encourage students to vote early. The one notable exception was the campus Republicans who, although they agreed to co-sponsor the event, never showed.
Organizer hope that several activities, including the march and a blowout party on Election Day, will help turn out the student vote.

7,000-strong welcome Sarah Palin to Loveland
The GOP faithful packed the Budweiser Event Center in Loveland to see Republican VP nominee Sarah Palin. It was the first campaign stop — for any presidential ticket candidate — in northern Colorado in this very long electoral season.

Obama works with GOP to pass mercury export ban
President Bush signed a major environmental law Tuesday banning U.S. exports of mercury, a dangerous neurotoxin and pollutant. The bipartisan bill was sponsored by Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama and Republican Alaska Sen. Lisa Murkowski.

Anti-gay protesters provoked Recreate 68 and Code Pink demonstrators at a Civic Center Park permitted anti-war event Tuesday resulting in two arrests.
Mark Cohen of Recreate 68 told The Colorado Independent: “We’re not negotiating with the police anymore. The truce is broken. All bets are off.”
