Amen! On the defeat of Amendment 47! The voice of real working men and women in Colorado was heard this historic election day! As a former union dues member, I strongly support the democratic election process that provides for the majority of workers to decide for union representation. Once the voice of the majority has spoken, ALL union represented employees should pay dues for their union representation. This I believe, is a fair and balanced way to provide equality for all union represented workers. Their voice is heard through their elected leaders. A true union is formed through solidarity of involved brothers and sisters that put the good of ALL before self! They are the backbone of working class America!
Thanks for providing this forum for those of us wanting to share our thoughts and opinions.
God Bless America and the Union, American Brothers and Sisters who all bleed the same Red, White and Blue! In Solidarity,
Don E. Gerber - "Gerb"

I can tell you that I and everyone I know and work with in State goverment opposes 47 the right to work for less amendment. So you might want to consider using another example. you might also think about how the political landscape could change now that state employees are one of the largest voting blocks in the state 32,000 strong. we are getting more and more orginized everyday. When State employees have a voice COLORADO WINS !!!

The Boulder Daily Camera supports Amendment 47

http://www.dailycamera.com/news/2008/aug/28/let...

Let workers choose: Giving workers a voice is the purpose of unions

"We think the best thing about this particular measure is its potential to make unions, when needed, better. Happy, well-compensated workers with good benefits who are treated fairly aren't tempted by, nor do they seek out, unions. And when they do, the unions provide a balance that the government and the courts do not.

The upshot for workers under Amendment 47 is that once the unions are in place, the lack of a guaranteed membership means the unions will have to continue to deliver on their promises in order to thrive."

Glad to see Perlmutter and Salazar publicly on board to fight 47. Often with moderates like Salazar, they shy away from supporting working families in order to support big business. But the fact that Salazar has come out strongly against 47 proves that the amendment is so bad for working Coloradoans that he had to say something.

With all the money going to fight this amendment, and most prominent CO politicians and business leaders against it, I cannot see how this terrible amendment survives.

"miserable piece of junk" - now that is how to talk about a bad amendment. I wish more progressives would be that direct.
