Polls are almost never that wrong. It would be one thing if the polls had him back by 10 points and he won. As it is, he trails by well over 20 points in every poll from the runner up to the person leading in the polls.

In a system that was more fair to third party candidates, he might be a strong candidate. As it is, Eidness is merely a Queen-maker, although who is being made Queen is a bit muddy.

Eidsness sweeps the east with endorsements On November 3rd Eric Eidsness, 4th CD, also picked up the Lamar Daily Times endorsement -- which they seldom give. That gives him a sweep of the east from Sterling to Fort Morgan to Lamar -- all assumed to be solid Musgrave towns.

Eric also has Fort Collins and Greeley as well. Sometimes polls are wrong. This race could be the surprise of the year.

The Aspen Times Weighs In The Aspen Times Weekly has come out today with the following endorsements in statewide and Congressional races:

Bill Ritter (D) for Governor.

John Suthers (R) for Attorney General.

Mike Coffman (R) for Secretary of State.

Cary Kennedy (D) for Treasurer.

Gail Schwartz (D) for State Senate District 5.

John Salazar (D) for Congress in District 3.

Eidsness picks up Sterling Journal Advocate Eric Eidsness now has four Northern Colorado papers. Only the Loveland endorsement of Musgrave represents any other significant district readership. This is not your usual 3rd party candidate. Serious people now have to make a serious choice. If enough are brave enough to follow their good judgment on competence, then Eric can overcome the 3rd party stigma. Otherwise, electability will triumph over competence. That would be a shame.
