That's a very astute observation. Thanks for bringing it up. Has the GOP now entered the realm of the NFL fan over the previously vaunted NASCAR dads as political target?

I'm not a television watcher by habit, does anybody know what preceded Obama's speech or what was competing during that timeslot?

Check out each networks' ratings for both acceptance speeches.

You'll notice that Fox News people doubled in viewership for McCain. No surprise there. The same is true of viewership for Obama on CNN. No surprise there. So the two liberal and conservative networks balanced each other out.

NBC spiked dramatically in viewership for McCain. Why NBC? Because of the NFL football game. People stayed plugged in to watch the acceptance speech. Brilliant scheduling for the Republican Party – which probably accounts for that extra 500,000 that tuned in, too.
