same-sex couples access to the designation of marriage will not deprive opposite-sex couples of any rights and will not alter the legal

The US Supreme Court declared in 1885 that states' marriage laws must be based on “the idea of the family, as consisting in and springing from the union for life of one man and one woman in the holy estate of matrimony; the sure foundation of all that is stable and noble in our civilization, the best guaranty of that reverent morality which is the source of all beneficent progress in social and political improvement.''

How can it be “selfish and myopic” to be concerned about the future of Western Civilization? How can it be “selfish and myopic” to want the best envionment for raising my children and grandchldren (and the children and grandchildren of my fellow citizens)?

The American Psychological Association states that homosexuality is normal and that homosexual relationships are normal.

The American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Psychological Association and the American Psychiatric Association have all endorsed civil marriage for same-sex couples because marriage strengthens the mental and physical health and the longevity of couples, and provides greater legal and financial security for children, parents and seniors.

When America’s premier child and mental health associations and their expert panels endorse marriage equality, there is no moral or ethical reason to discriminate against gay people and their children, except ignorance or bigotry. Think of what you would want for yourself or your your family.
