After a year of study, a Denver University panel released 25 recommendations for immigration reform this week. Among them, according to the DU website, was a recommendation for some form of amnesty for America’s millions of illegal immigrants.
And without excusing violations that have led to some 12 million people living in the U.S. illegally, the panel finds that deporting that many individuals is simply not realistic. Meanwhile, leaving that many people living in a shadow state is also impractical and unproductive. The panel calls for creating a process that allows illegal immigrants to come forward and register for a provisional status, working toward full legal residency.
But that residency would require English language proficiency, [panel chairman Jim] Griesemer said. While the U.S. is built as a nation on immigration and the vitality of many cultures, a common language must be part of the country’s continued development and prosperity.
But the report wasn’t a far-left call to ease up on immigration enforcement. It also recommended a government-issued worker identification card, along with an electronic system by which employers could verify legal status.
For more than 20 years, federal law has required all employers to examine documents presented by new hires to verify identity and work authorization, and to complete and retain employment eligibility verification forms (I-9). There is general agreement that the I-9 process has been undermined by fraud, both document fraud, where prospective employees present counterfeit or invalid documents, and identity fraud, where prospective employees present valid documents issued to other individuals. Even if employers are willing and motivated to comply with the law, as the great majority seem to be, the inability to positively and reliably verify immigration status is a major stumbling block to managing illegal immigration through employers.
And it also called for more resources to ensure that border patrol agents can do their job:
In addition to illegal immigration concerns, there is an urgent need to deal with violence, drug smuggling, human trafficking and potential terrorist activity in border areas. Indeed, [the Bureau of Customs and Border Protection’s] top priority is now to keep terrorists and their weapons from entering the United States.
Each year, Denver University’s Strategic Issues Forum picks a topic and spends a year developing recommendations. According to Chancellor Robert Coombe, this year’s topic was particularly challenging.
“This year, the topic was the greatest test yet of the process,” Coombe said.

There are about 15 million Americans looking for a job. Divide the stimulus package of 787 billion by the 15 million unemployed and that equals $52,467 per unemployed person.
If we deport 12 million people here illegally, the numbers above show we can spend a minimum of $52,000 per illegal immigrant to deport them. The airlines would love a $52,000 per ticket price to take someone out of our country.
See NumbersUSA.com
Deporting 12 million illegal immigrants is certainly a realistic option.

The fools in Washington don't have a clue, about the consequence of calling for another Comprehensive Immigration Reform package. Has anybody really got any conceivable idea of the ramifications, once President Obama and his political troops whisper AMNESTY. It will be like the final Marconi radio SS (Save our Souls) urgent message from the HMS Titanic? Those perpetrators who want to pass a bill of Immigration reform, are completely ignorant of the masses of humanity that will be pushing against the border fence. From the tip of South America to the huge continent of Asia, new peoples are already biding their time? It will not matter if E-Verify becomes a permanent fixture or even if Homeland Security fully empowers once again the uniformed police 287 (g) federal immigration detainment bill. Even a sudden surge in ICE raids or any enforcement matters will be completely obsolete, as millions more will be swarming the border barrier. It might as not exist, for all the good it will do against millions of destitute, sick, handicapped, pregnant, criminal and just illegal immigrants looking to feed their families. Tell me who is going to stop this sudden surge in numbers, that will start moving towards the fence in Canada and the Southern fence. Then we have tourists and students who have arrived for years by aircraft, but never returned to their home country. People trying to cross the undermanned border will never end. Knowing that there is always a chance of another AMNESTY, those who cannot make it in their own country will keep on coming–and never STOP?
Has anybody with at least one brain cell in their head, considered that once somebody yells AMNESTY–everybody and their Grandmother are going to be slipping across the border or boarding a jet to come here. Neither the Border Patrol, National Guard or Jesus Christ himself are going to stop, the millions of destitute, uneducated, unskilled foreign labor and all the rest in this behemoth deluge? They will wait for the call to go out and just like the 1986 AMNESTY, they will appear with fraudulent documents, that indicates they have been here 5 years or more. Those 3 million people who were legitimized, turned into 5 million after the Simpson/Mazzoli bill was ratified? We already are subsidizing 20 to 30 million foreign national families, whose going to pay for the unknown number waiting just across the fence? Its going to be the unmentionable mass numbers, exiting from every far corner of the impoverished countries on this Earth to be departing for America. GOD HELP THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA AND ITS SURVIVAL.
So get on the phone and demand as a voter for your lawmaker to vote for THE SAVE ACT (H.R. 3308) and be relentless. The number to call is 202-224-3121. Also bombard the House-Senate policy makers with 28 cent postcards, to stop the open border organizations from engineering another Path to citizenship or AMNESTY. Tell them to amend the 1986 Immigration Reform Act, not another facade that was a bloated with fraud. Understand that THE SAVE ACT will protect American jobs and remove illegal immigrants from working locations over time. Those who believe in America’s survival, without OVERPOPULATION as stated by the US Census bureau better read the facts, not the lies at NUMBERSUSA. Those who want details of corruption in WASHINGTON and state government go to JUDICIAL WATCH. For Overpopulation statistics, should go to CAPSWEB. Other sites of interest on Immigration enforcement is ALIPAC and AMERICAN PATROL.

DU people are typical educators…….they teach things cannot be done. Eisenhower did deport millions of illegals. He also built the interstate system and was key in the wwII victory. Einstein, Edison, Whitney and untold others did things and never thought gee that cannot be done.
People who think outside the box are innovators and doers. Those educators stay in the box and worry about not teaching to many contact hours and how many years until they can retire.

Put E-Verify in ALL businesses and ALL social services. Check all employees in ALL businesses, If found to be here illegally, dismiss them. They will self deport. Why people can't see how illegal aliens ared destroying this Country. Is their eyesight bad?
I can’t say the illegal aliens are completely to blame for the shape of our economy, but they are a BIG part of the problem. The illegal aliens send BILLIONS upon BILLIONS out of this Country every year, money we will NEVER see again. Does this help our economy?
How about the BILLIONS the American taxpayers fork out for the illegal aliens babies, the schooling of them, the medical care and the list goes on, and on, and on.
How about the MILLIONS upon MILLIONS paid to jail illegal aliens for the crimes, then the cost to deport them. Does this help our economy?
Then you have these activist groups, the Catholic Church and the ACLU that want AMNESTY for these illegal aliens. It would be absolute suicide for this Country if AMNESTY were granted to the 20 million or so illegal aliens. We have more and more people out of work everyday and they want to add another 20 million to this Country? I say, “NO”!
If AMNESTY were ever granted to these 20 million illegal aliens, you can bet big money that 3 years from now, there would be ANOTHER 3-5 million illegal aliens demonstrating on our soil for AMNESTY.
I believe it is time for all 50 States to pass a State law, like Arizona, Oklahoma, Mississippi, Missouri, South Carolina and a number of other States. It is time for these illegal aliens to go back to their home Country and get out of this Country. The problems they are causing will not go away until the illegal aliens are out of this Country. I think that is plain to see.
It's time for ZERO TOLERENCE with these illegal aliens. It's time for them to get back to their own country where they belong.

Brittanicus, what ever that means, pontificates with a lenghty screed in a display of self serving slop. What insight, knowledge, and dazzling command of bull shi*.
Delewareboob rants his/her way to wing nut glory. The left overs fill in the empty “brain cell” spaces tanicus whined about.
More hysteria and paranoia from the loony tunes of tancredo and boyles.

Amnesty is the best way to go. We need to reward these hard working undocumented citizens. They helped build our country. Let's be fair about it.

We are taking on way too much taxes by these idiots in washington, the handout crooks that came here illegally are again another tax burden on the middle class. And there is no one that can tell me illegals pay taxes, that is BS!!! Illegals get paid under the table, deal drugs and god knows what else, then send moneygrams back to mehiko where they can live like kings.. Here they spend zero on American businesses, they only support mexican business from across the border peddling their foods, clothes and wares.. It is all a huge traitorous movement of our government and these illegal scumbags and their president. Crime!! that's a whole other story, illegals commit crime when they get here and continue on for years by grabbing false social security numbers, identity theft, hit and run drunk driving, rape, murder, etc.. and they all go back to mehiko and mehiko says no to extradition!!! after they do their damage.. Every year illegals kill more Americans than iraqafghanistan combined!! Its time to tell the government we are going to pay them back in loss of life if this continues.. Next is all out war to defend the constitution and our culture FU washington you suck!!!
